My work illustrates the spaces between lines and planes. These spaces exist everywhere and it is within these spaces that two things come together and are separated.
I keep my work free from the visual assault of modern life,
using a limited palette and simplicity of materials. The negative spaces become as important as the positive. I explore what is in this space and
attempt to make it visible.
For me a title could be seen as controlling the viewer and therefore can lead
the viewer nowhere useful. The titles I use are descriptions of material and what
has happened in each painting.
There is an emotional life that lies within us all, a between place that finds difficulty in utterance. I believe that a gift of painting is to investigate this and make it visible. Felt but unseen spaces which create an experience of contemplation.
